Fun & Achievable For The Whole Family

What better way to spend a spring Sunday morning than an easy 5k run or walk with your friends? The Devonport Half Marathon 5k features a flat section along Calliope Rd to the spectacular view at the very end of Stanley Point. The road literally does stop here! On the way back, enjoy the steep downhill dash on Huia St before a splendid section on the waterfront shell path brings you back past the Ferry Terminal and into the centre of Devonport.

And when you get back to the finish line – for a fitting end to the morning – the cafes and restaurants of Devonport village are right across the road from the event centre.

Important! The start line for the 5K is a 650 metre walk from the race site via Queens Parade, Anne St and Clarence St. Take the walkway at the end of lower Clarence St to get up to the start line on upper Clarence St. Please listen for announcements and follow the crowd at 9:15am or make your own way there. We will allow 10 minutes for the walk. The compulsory race briefing will take place at the start line in Clarence St at 9:25am.

Course Description

The 5km Fun Run and Walk starts on Clarence St and heads out west along Calliope Road. Follow Calliope road all the way to where it becomes Stanley Point Road. Carefully cross the road at the intersection, keeping an eye out for any cars coming. Then the course continues along the north side of Stanley Point Road all the way to the very end.

After taking in the stunning views from Cyril Bassett VC Lookout, turn around and head back along the other side of Stanley Point Road. At the end of the road head through Stanley Bay Reserve and back out along Calliope Road.

Just before you make it back to the start line, take a right down Huia St, heading towards the sea. At the end of Huia St turn right again down Queens Parade for a very short stretch before crossing Queens Parade and going down the stairs towards the sea. Then take the beautiful seaside path to your left and follow the shore all the way past the ferry terminal. Once you pass the wharf, you will be directed into Windsor Reserve and along to the finish line!
