Course Description

The event begins with a short section on the shell path on the western side of the Devonport foreshore, with stunning views of Auckland City throughout. After a 180 degree turn, head back towards the start line and Ferry Terminal on the Queens Parade footpath and follow our directions around Windsor Reserve and along King Edward Parade, heading towards North Head.

Cross King Edward Parade just before Church St and take a left turn into Church St. Continue along this gentle uphill section – where you may encounter Half Marathoners joining from your left at St Aubyn Rd (give them a cheer, they have come a long way and still have much further than you to go!) and cross to the other side of the road where it becomes one-way at Cracroft St.

Just after this you come to beautiful Cambria Reserve (where the half marathoners leave you behind as they still have to go all the way to Narrow Neck Beach). Turn into the reserve and follow the path up a moderate hill where you can enjoy – for just a second – views out across the harbour. Run down the hill on the grass and rejoin the path to retrace your steps to the waterfront where you will be directed onto the shell path on the seaward side.

During the final km you will find yourself running alongside 21k, 15k and 10k runners and walkers for a beautiful scenic section along the sea wall. You will soon come to the path around the seaward side of Windsor Reserve with the finish line almost close enough to touch. Don’t be deceived! You still have almost 600 metres to go. Follow the promenade out to the sea and around the point and then back towards the ferry terminal. Just before the terminal, take a victory lap of Victoria Wharf for 360 degrees of our beautiful city and hardbour.

As you come off the wharf, the glorious finish line is directly ahead of you. You made it!
