You have three options to get to the race venue …

With our new event base at Windsor Reserve in the heart of Devonport village, it is now much easier to take public transport to the event instead of driving. We encourage all competitors to take a close look at the public transport options as parking in the area will be difficult.

Catch a Bus

Devonport village is a major transport hub and several bus lines run directly to the ferry terminal, from where it’s a hop, skip and jump to the event venue. Check on the Auckland Transport Journey Planner web site for the best options from your location.

Take the Ferry

By far the most relaxing and cool way to get to the event is to catch the ferry from downtown Auckland. At the time of writing, Fuller’s Sunday service commences from 7:15am, runs approximately every 30 minutes and takes 15 minutes to cross the harbour. That’s probably cutting things a little bit close for those in the longer races, but doable for those in the 5k or 2k. Remember to check the ferry timetable with Fullers or on the Auckland Transport Journey Planner web site before your journey.

Driving & Parking Info

We fully appreciate that the public transport options aren’t for everyone and the majority of participants will drive to the event. It is important to note that much of the street parking in the centre of Devonport has a one-hour time limit. If you are thinking you might just take your chances on a Sunday morning … Do Not. Auckland Transport have already informed us that traffic wardens will patrol the area on race morning specifically to discourage this. So please, please, don’t give yourself a nasty headache to come back to after the event.

If you are parking, arrive at the venue in plenty of time and expect a 10-15 minute walk from your parking space to the finish line. Try for un-metered street parking on the major roads; King Edward Parade (east of Buchanan St), Queens Parade (west of Anne St) or up on Calliope Rd. You may also find street parking in the residential streets outside of the centre. These words are our best guess only – you are fully responsible for your own decisions. Please be sure to check parking signs and comply with the parking rules posted – or expect a shock when you return to your vehicle.
